For
the most part if you don't know what a static IP address is, you do
not need one.
Over 95% of our customers do not need one.
Static IP addresses are not available on the Home or Pro Plans.
1
Static
IP Address can be added to the ProPlus Plan for $10 per month.
5
Static
IP Addresses can be added to the Small Office or Business Internet Plan for
$20 per month. A static IP address is a
permanent Internet address for a computer, much like a telephone
number. Static IPs make managing Internet connections more secure
and email access easier. Generally, a subscriber’s Internet Service
Provider (ISP) determines the type of IP address (static or dynamic)
the subscriber uses. Because there are a limited number of static IP
addresses available, most residential subscribers use dynamic IP
addresses.
Dynamic IP addresses (also
referred to as a NAT or Network Address Translation) are randomly
assigned IP addresses from a pool of available addresses. When
connecting to the Internet, users with a dynamic IP addresses use a
new IP address each time they connect to the Internet.
Static IP addresses are
necessary for some Internet uses such as:
-
Accessing some
applications remotely
-
Using home
surveillance equipment remotely when not at home.
-
Accessing home computers
remotely
-
Operating a home email or
web server
-
Using some applications
requiring Internet access
-
Most VPN's require a
Static IP.
For questions about the Static
IP's please contact one of our
Satellite
Internet Specialists.

All HughesNet equipment is under warranty with or without the "HughesNet Service Assurance"

4-8 days.
To better meet the needs of our customers, We offer two Service Assurance plans.
For only $5.95 monthly, You can get a 2nd business day service for repairs that require onsite attention. Whether a
HughesNet system is in or out of warranty, Service Assurance provides peace of mind that the problem will be resolved in 2 business days with a co-pay of $29.95. This is especially important, when satellite internet downtime means loss of revenue.

HughesNet internet service can easily be shared to multiple
computer. This can be done both wired or wirelessly
HughesNet Networking Information.
In a
typical office or home
network, many computers may be connected to Internet access, yet
not all will be using the Internet at the same time. Regardless of
the type of Internet connection or service provider, computers that
access the same Internet connection at the same time split the
available bandwidth between them. Most Internet activity involves
downloading a webpage, email or smaller files. With this type of
activity the computer is only accessing the Internet for short
periods of time. Downloading large files like movies, music or
software updates requires a constant connection till the process
completes. This will impact the available bandwidth for other
computers on the network during that period but will not prevent
them from accessing the internet. For this reason, HughesNet
provides a number of systems and service plans to accommodate a
variety of Internet access needs.<

systems to screen both inbound and outbound email messages. With this
technology, up to 98% of spam and malicious email content is blocked
preventing email threats from entering the subscriber’s computer.
Although HughesNet Email Defense blocks spam, subscribers remain in
control of the email blocking by indicating their spam preferences with
an easy-to-use tool that identifies which emails are spam.
HughesNet Email Defense blocks:
• Unwanted email (spam) and ensures subscribers receive the email they
want
• Email viruses, worms and other types of email security threats
This added protection for HughesNet email accounts does not protect
subscribers from security threats originating from other sources than
HughesNet email accounts. Subscribers should use other types of
anti-virus and malicious content blocking protection available
commercially, so their computers are fully protected.
